Edibles
Cannabis edibles have become a staple for many users, and the classic “pot brownie” is now a punchline you’ll hear just about anywhere—think of that one coworker who always asks, “Are these special brownies?” But brownies are just the tip of the iceberg. Today, the world of edibles includes THC pills, gummy candies, all kinds of baked goods, chocolate bars, and even dried fruit. Edibles have truly evolved, offering more variety and creativity than ever before.
Dosing Edibles
Everyone reacts to cannabis differently, and edibles are a whole new ballgame—even for experienced smokers. If you’re new to edibles, start low: take a 5mg dose. Carefully check the packaging, as it might list the total THC content (like 50mg for one brownie), so you’ll need to divide it into equal portions. For example, a 50mg brownie should be split into ten 5mg pieces, which you can weigh for accuracy.
On an empty stomach, you’ll usually feel effects within 30 minutes to an hour; with food, it may take longer. For your first time, try edibles on an empty stomach to best gauge their effects. If you don’t feel anything after 1.5 hours, you can take another 5mg, but don’t exceed 10mg your first time. On your next try, you can start with 10mg and go up to 15mg if needed, but always increase by just 5mg at a time—bigger jumps can hit harder than you expect.
